The weekend was lovely and busy.
I went to the Continuum Masquerade ball (minus the mask) and managed to catch up with a lot of people I haven't seen for somewhere between five and ten years! All these familiar faces from Perth. Needless to say there was much chatting and drinking involved. It was great catching up with what had been happening to everyone.
This is the second con where I have only managed to attend the masked ball, and this time I didn't even get to any of the room parties, nor did I get to see Neil Gaiman again. My memories of Swancon all those years ago will have to suffice, until he once again returns to this far away land *sigh*. I do wish I had gotten my act together and attended the con.
Hope to be able to catch up with some of them again later this week before they disappear back west, that is if their schedules and mine allow for this.
It has in some ways made me feel a bit homesick for Perth, just memories of gallivanting about and fun had et cetera.... mind you most of the people I hang around with in Melbourne originated in Perth too. There is no escape! :)
I'll no doubt go back to WA for a holiday at some stage in the future and do some more reminiscing, but Melbourne, for the moment at least, is my home.
Had my first "live" drama occurring during my shift at work the other week when the bombs went off in London. It was an interesting experience. The one problem was that my sarcastic sense of humour (made worse by the situation) came into action with the comment I knew France were upset at not getting to hold the Olympics, but did they really have to react so badly?
Unfortunately in these situations there is not much that a humble captioner can do, but "luck" was with us and there were wonderful stenos on hand (courtesy of cricket) and they saved the day by informing the public of these nasty events.
And it wouldn't be an LJ entry without at least a bit of rat in it....
Vagabond has developed a taste for coffee. He likes to drink it straight from my espresso cup which is where the problems begin, he is getting to be a rather large boy, and has the tendency to knock my baby cup over when he tries to climb on the rim!!!! There have now been a number of mornings where most of my coffee ends up on the desk rather than in my mouth! Really must get
tcpip to get his camera out more often so I can attempt to post a photo of these naughty rats of mine :)

We didn't stay all that long though - the lack of real alcohol was a problem:)
We might have to actually get organised and arrange something instead :)
don't tell god. or ricky ponting.
and yes, do take a photo of your rats, preferably with a milk moustache from the coffee consumption.
No worries there :)
As for the milk moustache, will a yogurt covered nose do? There's no milk in my coffee ;P
Er, yes... SF Cons. We really should start attending again... I'd almost forgotten how much I like them.
Perth in early September! Let's book some planes.... Now!
